LIBRARY
It has been greatly satisfying to run the resource centre smoothly and efficiently. The centre has around 5000 books, some fifty CDs and a bank of ten computers with internet facilities. It stays open on all working days from 8.00 am to 4.00 pm, and from 7.00 pm -8.30 pm on four days a week for students to use. It is also kept open on all Sundays from 10am to 4pm.
We have taken pains to provide access to information regardless of the format in which it is required, believing that the internet is home to us and that the world is ours. All libraries and resource centres of repute throughout the world provide access to the internet, and we are not an exception to this. The net has changed our lifestyle and has become an important tool to find and sift the information required by students and faculty.
The centre is a growing organism and to keep pace with the increase of students on the rolls, it is planned that another 10,000 books will be added in the next Academic year.
Primary students are regular visitors of the center, showing great interest in our collection and keen to have their queries and enquiries answered. To encourage reading habits among them, we regularly picked out students for ‘best reader’ awards. Students of Years 4 and 6 wrote a book of their own, giving vent to their imaginativeness. Year 4’s work was titled Future of the World; Year 6’s, Scary Adventure of Year 6.
The Primary students were taught to locate a book in the Library, explore different parts of the book, different sections in the library, and how to use dictionaries, encyclopedias, Thesauruses and an Atlas. Students of Year 5 were taught to make their own email id to communicate with us better and learn how to resource information.Students of Year 1 and 3 staged “Little Red Riding Hood” at one of the Primary school Assembly. Students of Year 1 and 2 also staged ‘Lion and the Mouse’ in the primary school assembly.
It is our endeavor now to make the Resource Centre more interactive, more resourceful, more informative, more attractive and more friendly.
